34 Mini Card Drawings

Last year I
set myself a challenge.
To see if I could do 1 drawing every day,
for thirty days.
I did 34 drawings in 34 days instead.
To make my challenge a
little easier for me,
and more manageable,
I cute a standard letter sized paper into quarters.
This gave me cards that
were approximately 4X5 1/2 inches.
I also set a few rules for myself:
*I could use only markers
*Once I finished my drawing that day,
I could not go back and change it.
*If I missed a day,
the next day I had to do an extra drawing to make up for the one I missed.
(I also numbered and dated each one.)
It is an excellent exercise in creativity,
and you may get inspiration from one of your little cards.
Here are a few.
(Click here to go and see all 34.)

I hope you all challenge yourself to create something everyday
for at least a month.
I'm telling you,
it will do wonders for your creativity!
Thanks for stopping by...

Happy One Year Anniversary Hollylynnclark.blogspot!

Well it has been a year ago this week since
I started up this little blog.
(Birthday card from

Reflecting back I've gone through some up's and down's
with keeping up with posting,
and it certainly has been a learning experience.
It has been a lot of fun
starting this little project,
and it has been great to challenge myself to keep
my creative juices flowing.
I love the focus my blog has given me.
Being honest,
the only disappointed I've had is
the lack of feedback and comments,
and I am looking forward to the challenge
of making my posts better to garner those responses.
But I'd also like to take this opportunity
to ask for some feedback.
Let me know how I'm doing,
and what I can do better on.
It is appreciated SO much in the online community.
Thank you to ALL who have stopped by
and poked around here.
It has meant a lot to me.

I hope I continue to grow
both personally and here on the Blog.
Now enough of that,
lets take a look back at one of my first posts.
It was:
A cute, little Pinterest board for a
as an entry for a ModCloth contest.
(which unfortunately I didn't win.)
I really like how my board came out.
Well Thank you for stopping by!
and once again THANK YOU
for a Wonderful first year of blogging,
Who knows where we'll be NEXT year!!!
Much love,

D.I.Y Note Cards for Valentine's day or any occasion...

Valentine's Day is almost here!
(Also my Husband's Birthday is a few days before!!!)
I have been making up some little note cards
for the occasion.
I had an idea a while back for a project,
sand stashed away the materials for it.
When I was thinking about
making some Valentines,
I remembered what I had squirreled away.
I tend to use the recycled
grocery bags for a lot of projects.
(I really like the craft paper look,
and I don't feel as bad for forgetting my re-usuable bags
when I go shopping if I use them for crafts.)
Back to what I was saying,
I use the bags for this and that, and then end up with
little bits here and there that
are not really big enough to use.
I cut them up into little rectangles like these.
I pulled out some of my gouache.
(Crafts paint would work just as well.)
and I painted a few simple
picture onto the little scraps of paper bag.
 (You could do this too.
If you are not an artist,
just paint little hearts or polka dots.
You can do some for Birthdays,
and all occasions
I think you would be surprised
how cute they come out.)
I then folded some pastel paper I had in half and
(You could use construction paper or
cards stock as well.)
Then folded those halves in half,
and glued the pictures on with
white glue.
(I pressed them under some books to keep
them from curling.)
and there you go!

Cute little notecards you could use for Valentine's Day
or any occasion!
I am working on some envelopes right now.
You could also tie them up
in little bundles
 and give them as gifts!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Can't believe it has been a month... Patchwork Pattern Maker for Quilting

Sorry to leave you all for a month
without even a peep out of me...
after the Holidays
I kind of just crapped out.
I ran out of batteries.
How were your Holidays?
I hope they were well,
ours were quiet.
A funny year this year, quiet.
I don't think I can ever remember having
a quiet Holiday.

I know I promised a few last posts
of my Holiday crafts,
and I never got to it.
So sorry.
I haven't been able to get any descent pictures TO post.
I feel like I leave for work in the dark,
and home home in it.
But I am back to quilting,
people keep having babies I can't keep up.
So to get back on speaking terms,
I wanted to share with you
a great little tool

Victoria and Albert Museum.

Here is one that I made.
and the original.
It so much fun I have been playing with it for days.
It even gives you a detailed break down
of how many pieces of each color you need.
(You could use the patterns as cross stitch patterns as well!)
I might tweak it a little bit,
BUT it is pretty good!
Let me know
if you try it out.
Thanks for stopping,
let's stay in better communication now, huh?
