Paper Trees

When crafting for the Holidays
I find the most basic supplies a must.
You don't need much more than
the traditional paper, scissors, glue,
and string.
With those few things you can make just about anything.
Like these paper trees for example.
You have probably seen them around pinterest
but I found that most of the tutorials not to have a very good explanation so I decided to give you my own version.

You will simple need some paper and scissors for these guys!
Now you can use whatever paper you have around the house,
white printer paper, construction paper,
even some magazine pages.
(I used both magazine pages and construction paper.)

First square off your paper by folding one corner over to the edge of the page.

Then you want to make sure you fold the square in opposite corner to corner.

And then both in half both ways the make a rectangle.

Now open up your square and pinch & fold in one of the corners.
to make a smaller square.

Then pinch & fold in the opposite corner.

So you end up with the photo above.

Next fold over the corners on one side of your smaller square.

So it kind of looks like your making a paper airplane like above.

Now take the corners you folded over and fold them inside the opposite way you fold them.

It should end up looking like this.

Repeat the process on the other side.

You will end up with and arrow shape with all the the the sides
neatly tucked in.

(Sorry this photo came out blurry.)
Then just cute off the bottom so you have you have your tree shaped triangle.

Your almost there!
Cut down both side of your triangle but don't go all the way into the middle.
I usually make 6 cuts down.

After you make your cuts start folding over the corners starting at the first cut and go all the way down.

Like so.

Keep folding each layer and your tree will start to take shape.

When your done folding you will end up with amazing
little trees.

You can display them free standing like above.
You can add some string to them either by gluing, taping,
or with a needle and thread to make them into ornaments.
Add the string to hang from the ceiling with paper snowflakes.
Like below.

I hope these instructions were a little easier to understand.
I had a lot of fun making these special trees.
(MAYBE a little TOO much fun i made A LOT of them hehe)

I hope you are having a happy Handmade Holiday so far!
Thanks for stopping by!!
